Norbert has been ailing by gout attack these past 3 weeks, which has only started to disappear into the 4th week. During his days working at the university bar, he must have over-drank his lifetime quota of beer (one of the causes for developing gout). Gout is a kind of arthritis, with sudden attack of swelling, burning pain of the joint. His affected toe was hot, swollen and so tender that even the weight of the bedsheet is intolerable. Gout occurs when urate crystals (formed by high levels of uric acid in the blood) accumulate in your joint, causing the inflammation and intense pain of a gout attack. Continue Reading →

To resume blogging after a hiatus is harder that I thought. With many ongoing projects and remembering to get enough down time, writing for the blog became less of a priority. I have postponed writing too many times that I have to schedule in daily mandatory ‘writing’ time. Since my last post, I’m getting much better than expected, with occasional fatigue in between days. By following the new routine I’ve shared in my previous post and a careful intake of food, I’m feeling more energised and alert by the day. If you have not noticed by now, there is only one whole cake recipe here. There are a handful of baking recipes but I try not to venture into cakes. Baking is not one of my strengths when it comes to inventing healthy, gluten and/or dairy free recipes, and every time the cake ended up being the casualty because I have forgotten baking is not easy.
