Lebanese Kafta StewIt has been raining non-stop 2 weeks ago. the monsoon season has started. I just love rainy days, watching the rain drops on the window or hearing the rain drops on the roof. so soothing and comforting.. just like stews.

Kacang Phool

Kacang Pool or Kacang Phool is a rather popular food in Johor Bahru, and everyone seems to be talking about Kacang Pool Pak Haji at Larkin. As this dish is adapted from the Middle eastern way of eating fava bean, I think the name Kacang Pool most likely got its name from the Egyptian word foul (or pronounced “ful”) for fava bean. I’m off to short trip with my mama and I’m excited to have another favourite blogger to showcase a delicious Korean dish! She’s Gomo of cHowDivine – a lawyer by day and talented cook at home. Her blog features healthy food, especially Korean food. I stumbled upon Gomo’s blog a few months back and I couldn’t stop browsing her blog, going from one delicious post to another.. Japchae (Noodle Dish)Ddukbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes), Pajeon (Scallion Pancake), and many more. It then hit me – Korean food is actually very healthy.. it’s now my new love, gotta learnt up more korean words for my soon-to-be frequent visits to Korean restaurants. As we are both on gluten free lifestyle, I feel connected to Gomo. Remember my recent post on Banana Bread with Dark Chocolate Chunks and Walnut, that’s Gomo’s creation.

Ramadhan is a holy month of fasting from dawn until sunset for Muslims refrain from eating and drinking for the muslims. At sunset, a sumptuous variety of food is prepared for (Iftar) breaking fast meal, some of these dishes are only prepared during Ramadhan. I’m excited when my friend Zaid Jeber agreed to share a delicious Middle Eastern dish for the Ramadhan. I knew Zaid 2 years ago when he came to KL for his study. As he is a foodie and amazing cook, we hit off instantly and I’m lucky to have learn so much about Middle Eastern food from him. Zaid is sharing with you Rice Kubba or Aleppo Kubba, a popular and constant dish in Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon during Ramadhan.

If you love the Grilled Lemongrass Beef, you will love it with Bun (dry rice vermicelli in Vietnamese dipping sauce). This dish is a signature dish of Vietnam.

If you have tried Vietnamese food, chances are you have tried Bun, or dry rice vermicelli in Vietnamese dipping sauce (fish sauce) and topped with either grilled beef, BBQ shrimp, sugarcane shrimp or a combination of them. Besides pho and bun bo hue, this has got to be one of the most common and favorite dishes at Vietnamese restaurants. It’s not hard to figure out why this is. It’s so versatile and easy to prepare, the savory grilled lemongrass beef with refreshing herbs and vermicelli is refreshing and appetizing. It’s not only tasty, but very healthy and comes with all sorts of vegetables and herbs.
