One thing I don’t like about vacations is over indulging in food – which I tend to do a lot. and I’m feeling bloated after the short island getaway last weekend. And my immediate remedy – Ginger Lemongrass Tea.
Something special happens when the ginger and lemongrass flavours infused in hot water. Cleansing, calming, refreshing and gently stimulating, I find this tea is soothing in some way.. So if work stresses you out, have a mug of this around 3pm to refresh. or just anytime of the day
This herbal tea just take 5 minutes of your precious time. And more reasons to make this tea.. Lemongrass, a renown anti-fungal, and ginger, a powerful digestive, have the combined effect of creating a tea that is at once calming to the nerves and soothing to the digestive tract.
- 1 knob of fresh ginger – peeled and slightly crushed
- 3 cups of water
- 2 stalks of lemongrass – slightly crushed
- Rock sugar or Honey to sweeten
- Add water, ginger, and lemongrass to a small pot, and bring it to a boil for about 2 minutes. Turn the heat off and let steep for 20 minutes.
- Strain out lemongrass and ginger pieces. Add sweetener and serve hot.

This is my kind of tea! I never knew lemongrass can be put into tea. Last time I bought lemongrass I tried to use it so hard before it goes bad. I should have made tea with it – I drink all day and I can consume it pretty fast! I can smell the nice fragrance…

I wish my local grocery store stocked lemongrass. I have to travel in my car to get it, which means I often do without. It’s a shame because I would otherwise use it quite a bit (being a Thai cuisine enthusiast…). Lemongrass tea is a favourite and I love the addition of soothing, anti-inflammatory ginger here. Delightful!

Sorry Kelly, I’ve totally missed out replying your comment.
Lemongrass is very easy to grow if you have a backyard, and they grow very fast. next time you get some lemongrass, soak a few stalks in a jar and roots will start to grow. then you can transfer them to soil. even though it’s a tropical herb, I read that they grow quite well during winter too, just bring them indoor.

Thanks for your comment. There’s no tea leaves in this tea, this is a herbal tea. try it

I like this tea and since we r having lemongrass growing in the garden I ll be able to make some again (the dogs like to chew it off), sometimes I even add lemon together with the ginger and lemongrass. I ll try your ratio later on, since it just rained and I am in a comfy mood. =)

mmmM ginger tea! never thought of it. I couldn’t agree more about feeling bloated after a vacation. I tend to over indulged myself too. LOL.. adding a lemon grass will give that extra aroma and lemony note. will definitely keep this in mind

I’ve made ginger tea but I’ve never added lemon grass to it. This sounds quite soothing!

I have not tried this before but I agree that it is refreshing. I guess it could be taken cold too? I prefer cold drinks

I think I’ll just have these in my cooking. Right now, I’m drinking apple cider vinegar with manuka honey. Dunno if it will do me any good.
