Refreshing Fish Tacos with Mango Salsa on Gluten Free Oat Flatbread

Oat Flatbread Fish Tacos

As a Pinterest addict, getting lost in the world of beautiful photos of recipes and DIY crafts happens pretty often. If I don’t set a time frame for my “Pinterest” time, I could spent hours pinning away. It’s not uncommon that Pinterest is a great source of recipe inspiration, because recipes are amongst the most pinned items. Easy oat flatbread is one of the recipes I found and experimented with a few times, if you have been following my instagram account, the few gluten free flatbread recipes I’ve tried, couldn’t be rolled out properly, the texture was dry and stiff. Quick and light fridge clean-out Fennel Salad

Flaked Seabass, Fennel & Confit Tomatoes Salad

Would you eat something you have not tried before? Or do you prefer sticking to things you are familiar with?

I’m always looking for new ingredients to try, crazy me. I get uber excited when I see something new. Which can (and already did) get out of control. My kitchen and fridge are filled with STUFF begging for me to use them. A bad habit that I’m slowly getting rid of and learning a new habit to only stock up the fresh produce when the fridge is empty. It has been working quite well and it’s quite surprising that the fridge clean-out recipes turned out better than expected. Continue Reading →

Healthy, refreshing and delicious Vietnamese Shrimp Rolls with Peanut Hoisin Sauce

Vietnamese Shrimp Roll with Peanut Hoisin Sauce ((Gỏi Cuốn with Nước Lèo) I love serving Vietnamese rolls, DIY style with family or when friends come over. It makes a fun social dining activity. Unfortunately rolling their own food was not some people’s idea of fun when I serve them at a bloggers potluck 2 months back. Upon request, I rolled 12 of them leisurely while waiting for the rest to arrive. Continue Reading →

No-Rice Bibimbap Bowl

I’m pretty obsessed with Korean food, especially Gochujang paste. I love to use the paste to season meat or fried rice. Bibimbap (Korean rice bowl with gochujang) is on my weekday lunch menu almost every other week, usually with raw veggies. Some days it’s just No-Rice Bibimbap Bowl, which makes it an amazing spicy salad bowl. Continue Reading →

Baked Eggs in Pomodoro SauceI’d bookmarked this Baked Eggs in Pomodoro Sauce recipe from Quay Po Cooks sometime ago. QPC had been so fortunate to watch Chef Fabio Viviani (Top Chef Season 5) demonstrate this simple and delicious recipe at his restaurant. I can imagine Chef Fabio’s suave personality charming all the female audience at the demo. Continue Reading →

Baby Spinach Salad with Dates & Almond | JustAsDelish

The Cakap Makan bloggers community on FB have been buzzing about the exotic Middle Eastern ingredients for the Asian Food Fest: West Asia blog event that I’m hosting this month. A lot of them have never tasted middle eastern food, let alone know where to buy those exotic ingredients like sumac, zaatar and pomegranate molasses. As I was going to Suria  (a middle eastern grocer in KL) to get some cheese and olives, I offered to get sumac for Lena of Frozen Wings. To my amusement, Suria only sell one size pack sumac (500g is a HUGE pack), I shared them with a few friends and searched for recipes to use up the balance of my sumac. This Baby Spinach Salad with Dates & Almonds from Jerusalem is absolutely addictive because of sharp freshness of sumac and chili flakes. I’ve never thought chili would go so well in a salad. Fattoush (Bread Salad)

Often a part of mezze spreads in Middle Eastern and Arabic countries, fattoush is a simple bread salad made with fresh vegetables and toasted pita bread. It was created as a way to use up stale Arabic bread and seasonal vegetables. Fattoush is a great example of the arabic or middle eastern cuisine, a lot of fresh vegetables, colors and flavors and definitely no shortage on bright flavors and spices.
