Hearty, savoury oatmeal with miso to start your day
Most of us associate oats with sweet breakfast, either banana oatmeal or granola. Not many are aware that there are many great savory oatmeal recipes and I hope you’ll try one soon. To some of you, savoury oats might sound odd or yucky. Oats are a great grain to use like any other grain like rice or quinoa and you don’t have to use it just for a sweetened breakfast. Power packed smoothie with beautiful summer berries, chia seed & hemp seed
I am indeed very blessed for the chance to visit some amazing European cities recently – Barcelona Spain, Paris France, Bruges Belgium and a couple of cities in the Netherlands, with many 1st time food experiences. You might have seen the photos on my Instagram. Picnic by the canal with ducks and geese swimming by. Tasted salted cod fish and black summer truffles. Unknowingly ate calf’s brain. Pricked by cactus pear. Picked wild bramen (blackberries) and turning them into a yummy dessert. Continue Reading →
Protein packed Quinoa Egg Wrap Breakfast Burrito to start your day.
Egg wrap, egg crepe, egg tortilla, egg roll. Whatever it’s called, it’s pretty brilliant. Just whisk 2 eggs to make a thin omelette to use it as a wrap. It’s a quick gluten free, protein filled nutritious addition to your breakfast, lunch or dinner. Continue Reading →
This is my typical daily Big Breakfast Oats, except it looks like a pile of mess on most days (like my Banana Oatmeal recipe). This is my evolved breakfast oatmeal. I used to burnt my oatmeal.. quite often.. sigh.. I’ve received enough stern looks. I’m really bad at multitasking – cooking rolled oats on stove while brushing my teeth or picking my clothes. Without knowing it, something smelt burnt. My poor pot has seen better days. Continue Reading →
My digestion has acted up quite badly from early this year, causing me restless nights and fatigue relapse. My road to recovery from leaky gut is ongoing since 2 years, thus having the bloating symptoms reoccur can be frustrating. Having planned many great projects this year, I felt disappointed when things are not going well in that direction. When I get a bit better, I just pushed & overworked my body. Then the body breaks down again. Continue Reading →
I have 2 confessions to make.
1st confession – I’m not a morning person and I become grouchy bear if I’m on empty stomach. So stay away from me in the morning, especially if I didn’t get my breakfast. I will try to get as much sleep as I possibly can before waking up, I’d rather get an extra 15 minutes sleep than using them to do my hair or make-up.
2nd confession – I l used to eat in the car while driving to work, and I still do now when I’m running around in the morning.
Egg “Muffins” are great breakfast ideas for anyone who’s busy in the morning and wants something that can be made ahead and eaten on-the-go. These Egg Muffins, or more like mini-quiches baked in muffin cups to create a grab-and-go breakfast that you can make on the weekends and then quickly reheat in the oven for a hot breakfast on the go. This Banana Pancake recipe isn’t exactly a pancake, but it’s shaped like a pancake, eaten like a pancake, just sans the flour in recipe. Yes you heard me. Flourless pancake, just banana and eggs, and taste just as delicious. Whoever created this recipe is a genius.
Now don’t you agree everyone could use less flour in their food intake. Even though I am intolerant to wheat, I still substitute wheat with other grain flours like rice, buckwheat, millet and sorghum. Whole-kernel grains does conceal an array of vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and fiber. But when machines pulverize kernels into flour, even whole-grain flour, what’s left behind is a starchy powder capable of wreaking havoc on the body. Continue Reading →
Don’t laugh. I brought 1kg of my granola on my Europe vacation. As most breakfast options in Europe are wheat based food, my granola was my breakfast, my snack- sprinkled on yogurt parfait and my traveling munchies.
I love making big batches of granola. But sometimes there’s not enough ingredients to make a big batch. Or it’s just too hot to turn on the oven. Or the oven broke down, just like mine did after I came back from vacation. Continue Reading →
Soufflé Omelette with Kiwi Sauce. You absolutely read the title of this post right. It’s not a omelette, it’s not a soufflé – it’s a combination of the two. Yes it’s a sweet omelette for breakfast or even for dessert. This might be the best healthy breakfast or dessert you’ll have all year. Continue Reading →
I have this strange obsession with making pancakes and crepes. Pancakes are not part of our Asian food, and I certainly do n0t recall mama making pancakes during my growing up years. Whenever I see any gluten free recipe, I would immediately try them. Don’t ask me how many recipes I’ve tried, I’ve lost count. I’ve posted a few crepes recipe – Strawberry Crepe with Whipped Cream Filling, Gluten Free Crepe with Caramelized Pears, Durian Pancake, Buckwheat Wrap.. but no pancake recipe yet *gasp* Continue Reading →
